Woodcut Bowlsaver Original Coring System

The Bowlsaver Original is Woodcut's bowl coring system, designed and refined in New Zealand since 1995. Instead of turning the inside of a bowl into shavings, it cores out solid blanks, so one piece of timber gives you a nest of bowls.

A Morse taper fits into the tailstock of your lathe, and the unit couples to the lathe via a tool post, giving solid support and reduced vibration. It is straightforward to operate, so turners of all levels can use it, on green or seasoned wood.

What's included:
Two high strength knives (Large and Small) with welded Stellite cutters, supplied sharpened. The knife combination removes bowls from 3" to 12" diameter, up to 5" deep, from inside the mother bowl. Most turners never need to replace the Stellite cutters. When the time comes, they can be honed with a diamond hone.

What you'll need:
A lathe from 12" to 16" swing with 1HP and up. A tool post to suit your lathe is required and sold separately, as tool post diameters vary between lathes. Check your lathe manufacturer's specifications, then pick the matching Woodcut Tool Post.

Where it sits:
Best suited to lathes under 16" swing. If you run a larger lathe (16" to 25" swing, 1.5HP and up) and want to core up to 18" bowls, step up to the Bowlsaver Max4.
