Woodcut Irons Shear Scraper

The Irons Shear Scraper was designed in collaboration with professional wood turner Phil Irons for refining and smoothing the exteriors of hollow form vessels and bowls.

It minimises the need for extensive sanding on burl, end grain and side grain projects by removing high spots and torn grain while sculpting smooth curves and flowing lines. Its design prepares wood beautifully for dye and stain application, with better colour absorption than traditional bevel or flat topped carbide cutters that can cause tear out.

The tool features a triple tempered M2 high speed steel cutter with three cutting sides, so you rotate to a fresh edge as you work.

What you'll need:
A handle if you prefer one for your workflow. Sharpen the cutter with a diamond file such as a credit card hone, or remove it and use the Tru-Grind Stem Sharpener on a CBN wheel.
