Woodcut Pro-Forme Solid Starter Kit

The Pro-Forme Solid Starter Kit is the straightforward way into Woodcut hollowing: a straight 5/8" solid shaft with the Powerhead 1/2" cutter and a Pro-Handle, ready to put to wood.

The Pro-Forme features a solid shaft, so unlike other hollowing tools you don't need to keep making ongoing adjustments as you hollow. The hardened M2 HSS cutter is open on one side to prevent clogging and cuts at much slower speeds, around 500 rpm. The adjustable brass gauge operates like a bench plane, setting depth of cut and preventing dig-ins. Designed for cross grain and end grain, dry and green wood, hollowing forms up to 13" deep, and deeper again in conjunction with the Irons Tool Gate.

What's included:
Straight 5/8" shaft, Powerhead 1/2" complete with brass gauge, and the Pro-Handle with padded foam grip.

What you'll need:
Nothing else to start hollowing. Sharpen the cutter with a diamond hone, the easiest hollowing tool to sharpen.

Where it sits:
The honest entry point to the Pro-Forme system. Add the slight bent and bent shafts later as your forms get more ambitious; your Powerhead moves between them.
